I'm leaving in nine days! I am so glad my Study Abroad trip to Greece is all worked out. It has felt like a long road getting to this point, especially since we've made all of the accommodations for my disability, but I am so glad it's finally going to happen! I'll be studying film (I think the official title is Culture and Media) under a professor from NYU School of Film and Television, Dr. Norris Chumley. He's very nice and very complementary. And I'm the only one in the class! It'll be so great! I'm hoping I'll be able to finish my first draft of my screenplay before I go, so he can read it over and possibly give me some pointers. We are also going to work on a short film, so maybe I'll be able to use that for grad school applications! I'll also be taking a Greek class, so we'll see how that goes... I'm terrible at languages, but I'm trying to get a head start now. Maybe I'll be fluent by the time we get back! Miracles can happen...
First, we will go to Athens for three days and do our Study Abroad Orientation. After that, we will take a ferry to the island of Serifos and stay there for the rest of June. My dad will come for the first two weeks and my mom will come for the second two. I keep joking with them that they're getting a free vacation on a Greek island. Well, they'll be taking care of me so it won't really be free. I'm just really glad they were able and willing to help with that part. I have awesome parents. And everyone who has helped me get to this point is awesome, too. This includes Jason Kinnear and Aliki Barnstone, the Mizzou people who answered all of my questions.
So I guess I'll post again soon! Probably once I arrive in Athens. Pray I have a good (long) flight!!
